More detail

DART selected PMC to restore and remodel the historically significant Monroe Shops Building, which was built in 1914, and repurpose it as the new headquarters of the DART police department. This facility is directly adjacent to the DART Illinois station. The project included demolition of existing interior floors with temporary supports for the exterior walls, excavation, and installation of an underground concrete utility tunnel, and placement of new concrete piers to support new floor slabs. The new slab installation allows the addition of another floor plate to the existing building envelope. New structural steel was added for the addition of elevators, a mechanical pit, and truss supports. The exterior landscape was also replaced.
